Sound installation with Soundtraxx DSD-AT100LC Fairbanks-Morse sound decoder

Fig 1: Remove the body by spreading the sides by the tanks and tilting the body to clear the front coupler.

Fig 2: Remove the PC board (held in by two screws shown) and clip the locating pin with flush cutters so the Soundtraxx board can lay flat. Trim the right front truck wire that went to the rear of the board so it only reaches the front of the Soundtraxx board.

Fig 3: Solder the truck wires to the Soundtraxx board and then put the plastic clips back on for insulation (they won’t hold the wires well enough without soldering). Use Dap BlueStik or similar putty to hold the board in place and insulate it from the mounting blocks in the corners. I also put BlueStik on the sides of the small oval speaker and enclosure to hold it in place. For the headlight on this model, I replaced the bulb with a 12 volt bulb since there was plenty of room to keep it away from the shell.
